Cohu Announces Management Changes

POWAY, Calif., January 3, 2002 -- Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ:COHU) today announced that Jeffrey Tyler has been named President and General Manager of its Electronics Division, a supplier of closed circuit television cameras and systems. He succeeds James M. Brown, who is retiring. Tyler joined the Electronics Division in 1985 and has held management positions in Marketing, Sales, Customer Service and Total Quality Management. Prior to joining the Electronics Division, he was a Commander in the U.S. Naval Submarine Force.

James Brown is retiring from Cohu's Electronics Division after nearly twenty-two years of service, including eighteen years as President and General Manager. "We thank Jim for his significant achievements and leadership of the Electronics Division and we wish him the best," said Cohu President and CEO, James A. Donahue.

John H. Allen, Cohu Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer since 1995 has accepted a similar position with Mission Research Corporation in Santa Barbara, California and will leave Cohu in March. The Company plans to commence a search for a new Chief Financial Officer immediately. Donahue stated, "We thank John for his contributions to Cohu and wish him well." Allen added, "It was a difficult decision to leave a wonderful company like Cohu. I look forward to new opportunities and challenges and am comfortable knowing that I leave the Company at a time when it is in the best financial position in its history."
