New Fisher M-Scope Portable Walk-Through Metal Detector Assisting the U.S. Marines in Iraq

POWAY, Calif., February 1, 2005 -- Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ:COHU) announced today that its Fisher Research Laboratory, Inc., subsidiary (FRL) recently sold over 100 M-Scope portable walk-through metal detectors for use by the United States Marines in Iraq. Portability is one of the key reasons the U.S.M.C. chose the M-Scopes, which were used to help secure the January 30 Iraqi election.

John Chernekoff, FRL President, stated, "We are proud to have developed a portable, highly effective, walk-through metal detector, the M-Scope. At less than ninety pounds, with a unique modular assembly, collapsible tote configuration and forty hours of battery life, the M-Scope is a truly portable unit."

Chernekoff concluded, "Security planners can deploy and assemble an M-Scope virtually anywhere, making a broad variety of facilities, institutions and remote locations more secure within minutes."

The M-Scope includes FRL's latest metal detector technology. With the flexibility of 100 sensitivity settings, user-friendly control panel, intuitive three-zone detection, a durable modular design, and excellent detection capability for ferrous and non-ferrous metals, the M-Scope is an ideal walk-through metal detection solution.

FRL (Los Banos, CA) brings over seventy years of innovation, capital and engineering know-how to the challenge of creating effective security solutions.
