Cohu's Delta Design Unit Announces Bulk Media Version of Its 1888 RF/Wireless Handler

SAN JOSE, Calif., SEMICON West, July 18, 2001 - Cohu, Inc. (NASDAQ:COHU) through its Delta Design unit announced today its new Delta 1888 handler, designed for bulk media handling of leadless IC devices. Featuring a vibratory bowl-feed input and automated tape-and-reel output, this new 1888 configuration provides added flexibility for customers desiring the lower cost advantages of handling leadless devices in bulk.

"Wireless device packaging trends point clearly in the direction of leadless body styles," commented Ed Killackey, Marketing Manager. "Leadless packages such as the MLF™ offer cost, size and RF application advantages. For many customers, cost drives the decision to handle leadless parts in bulk."

This newest configuration builds upon the 1888 gravity-feed handler features designed for handling RF/wireless IC devices. Now with bowl input and tape-and-reel output media, 1888 customers have more flexibility to realize cost savings associated with handling devices in bulk.
